In 1986, Both the Kurdistan Students Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union due to the unfavorable situation in South Kurdistan and the closeness of the professional struggle of the two organizations. They decided to hold a joint conference for a while.

The 11th Congress of the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) was held in Duhok for the first time in 2004 after the liberation of Iraq in 2003 by the allied countries.

The second conference of the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) was held in early August 1964 in Kani Masi area near Sulaimaniyah after the failure of the elected leadership of the fourth congress of the organization to fulfill its duties.

Following the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) third congress on December 26, 1953, a decision was made to establish mass organizations. Consequently, on February 18, 1953, the Kurdistan Students Union held its inaugural congress in secret in Baghdad.

The ninth congress of the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) was held in Erbil in 1998 after the difficult period of civil war in South Kurdistan.

The 8th Congress of the Kurdistan Students Union (Azadi) was held in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, in 1993, after the 1991 spring uprising, in order to reorganize and separate from the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union.

The seventh congress of the Kurdistan Students Union was held on March 30, 1972, in a free atmosphere in Sulaimani, thanks to the March 11 agreement between the revolutionary leadership and the Iraqi central government.

Following the announcement of the March 11, 1970, agreement, the sixth congress of the Kurdistan Students Union was held in a free and open atmosphere on July 15, 1970. The congress took place in the village of Nawprdan, located in Erbil province.

The fifth congress of the Kurdistan Students Union was held on July 13-15, 1967 in Shwan area of Kirkuk province.

The Fourth Congress of the Kurdistan Students Union convened on February 14, 1964, in the village of Chokhmakh, located near Sulaimani. This significant event followed the revolutionary leadership's successful negotiations with the government, culminating in the announcement of a peace treaty on February 10, 1964.

In the summer of 1955, two years after the first congress and following several internal changes within both the Party and the organization, the Kurdistan Students Union held its second congress in secret in Baghdad.

Following the success of the July 14, 1958 revolution, the fall of the Iraqi monarchy, and the issuance of official work permits by the republican government, the third congress of the Kurdistan Students Union )KSU) was held openly in Baghdad in 1961.
